This weekend Hastings Racecourse will be hosting the annual Wiener Dog Races. Taking place over several heats, these dogs racing to win their owners $2500 in prizes.  Entrance to the race is FREE and  they run on both Saturday and Sunday.

Recently the city's Viva Vancouver organization has helped transform some of the city's parking spaces on busy streets into tiny parks or parklets.  These miniature oases, which often measure no more than 30 square metres, function as mini public plazas, with benches, tables and landscaping. Pop up Picnic is a fun event that runs through to the end of August, featuring 8 Robson Street restaurants.  The popular restaurants  have put together quick, tasty and well priced menu options for people to chose from.  Every picnic lunch includes a free Robson tumbler (while supplies last)  and  a number of great spots to dine outside.
