Do you enjoy the occasional single malt? Do you like to indulge in the finer things in life?  Do you have $45,000 lying around?

Then you might be in for a real treat.  An ultra-rare whiskey is coming up for sale in Vancouver and - at around $1,000 or so a sip - it's bound to be something special.

Scotland's esteemed Balvenie distillery is shipping just one bottle of a very special whiskey to Vancouver this month.  Balvenie Fifty was first  put into cask back in 1963.  All told, only 131 bottles were ever produced.  And, according to whisky aficionaldos, the taste is unmistakeable: fragrant, floral and boasting hints of honey.

You can find this premium scotch for sale at the Signature Liquor Store on Cambie Street as of January 12th.  But expect some competition from fellow conniosseurs.  Last year, a $37,000 bottle of Glenfiddich went on sale at the store and was nabbed by a Vancouver man who camped out in the parking lot for 4 days.  Another set of 4 vintage whiskies from Scotland's Dalmore distillery was put on sale at the same store last year for $139,000.

According to CBC, Vancouver is internationally known for its discerning whisky fans.  Balvenie is sending just 1 bottle of Fifty to all of Canada, and it ended up here 'because of the abundance of single malt drinkers in the province who are looking for high-end products.'

If Balvenie's $45,000 bottle isn't top-shelf enough for you, you might also consider the Dalmore Paterson Collection. Said to be the world's most expensive whisky, it's valued at nearly $2 million and evidently has yet to find a buyer.  No word on whether it's coming to a Vancouver liquor store near you any time soon.

Dine Out  Canada's largest annual food and drink festival which attracts over 100,000 local and visiting food enthusiasts to experience the city's diverse culinary scene is back.

Going in to its 14th year, diners will get an opportunity to select from hundreds of restaurants, each offering 3 or more unique course prix-fix meals at $20, $30 and $40 per person, with many complemented by the Wines of British Columbia, and craft beer and cocktails.

Whatever your craving, Dine Out satisfies.  Join in on celebrating Vancouver's amazing culinary scene during this most delicious time of the year.  I am getting hungry writing about this.  Yummy!!

Official SkyTrain rules prohibit eating or drinking on the trains and discourage listening to load music, but they don't say anything about wearing pants.

The No Pants Skytrain Ride returns to Vanccouver next Sunday, January 10th. This is the 7th time this event has taken place in Vancouver on select SkyTrain routes, all in the name of comedy.

The event is part of global de-pantsing on mass transit around the world and is organized by an international improv comedy group Improv Everywhere.  This year up to 400 brave commuters are expected take part.

So how does it work?  Riders willing to disrobe gather at designated SkyTrain stations, where you can get a group photo taken with your fellow pranksters.  At the appointed hour, everyone boards the SkyTrain, waits for the doors to close and then - in casual fashion - stands up and removes their pants.  If anyone asks you why you have undressed, you just tell them you were getting uncomfortable.

The official route for this years event is being kept secret for the moment, but updates will be posted on the Improv Anywhere site and Facebook page as the date approaches.  The ride is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 pm sharp, and organizers are promising 2 separate starting points.

Last, but not least, there is 1 important requirement.  You have to keep a straight face about the whole thing.  Part of the gag is that you're supposed to act like it's perfectly normal to drop your pants on mass transit.  Sounds like a lot of fun - Who's in??
