Last nights Polaris winner Tanya Tagaq is coming to town

Last night Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq stunned the audience at the annual Polaris Music Awards by receiving the top prize, for her album Animism.  The talented singer put on a dazzling performance and received an standing ovation.  She is the sixth artist to win the top album since the inauguration of the prize in 2008.

On October 16th and 17th Tanya and her collaborator violinist Jesse Zubot will be coming to town for 2 shows at the Chan Centre at UBC.

However, beware - the shows aren't simply concerts.  There will be a mix of music with activism and the 2 evenings will include activist Severn Cullis-Suzuki who has been a public environmental activist since she was 12, and is a Yale-educated scientist and part of the David Suzuki Foundation.

Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased at the Chan Centre either in person on on-line.
